Pitch Perfect for a Soldier

Interviewing and Editing

For this project, I interviewed the president and vice president of Active Minds at the University of West Alabama. They wanted to spread awareness for a joint worship service they held along with the on-campus ministry, the Wesley. The service was held to honor servicemen and women in the military, police, and fire department. This was a simple project, but the first I have done on my own. I started by setting up equipment to interview Fannasy and Brandon. This included setting up two lights on either side of the camera, and fixing a boom mic up over them so they would both pick up clearly on a single mono track, rather than placing individual mics on them. After asking them a few questions to get the necessary information for this interview, I was able to make two cuts. The first gave all the information needed for the event and invited people out. The second gave fewer details and requested viewers to call Fannasy if they were interested in participating in the on-stage performances. For the editing, I cut down much of the unneeded commentary, added graphics, and included music under them speaking. It was a simple editing job, the difficult part was posting the videos.  Active Minds were able to post the videos to their Facebook and Snapchat, and only on Snapchat after cutting it up some. The first video was too long for Instagram, an issue I look to correct on future projects.
